Subject-matter
I. Introduction. A brief traditional start of the uliger narrates of the time of the actions, of the grey ancient time when all in the world acquired a completed form and familiar contours, when life was conceived on the earth and living beings appeared on it.
II. Introduction. The forty four eastern tengris and the three Sharablin fellows stole the soul of the only daughter of Atai Ulan- tengri and the tengri’s daughter gets ill.
Esege Malan-babai and Ekhe Yuren-iibii (the elder deities-protectors) get the tengris together for a council in order to select the one who can fight with the eastern tengries and sharablin daring fellows. Selected was Abai Geser Bogdo – the son of the head of the easten tengris Khan Khormusta. Abai Geser Bogdo attacks the eastern tengris, with the help of his charmed arrow he finds and saves a stolen sole of a girl. Atai Ulan’s daughter recovers. The eastern tengris again does evil, he sends on the earth the yellow mist, poisons and the like. Because of this many people, animals and beasts die out. The rest people pray and make sacrifices to the fifty five western tengris.
III. Geser’s descent on the earth and his second birth. Esege-Malan-babai calls the council of the tengris at which it was decided to send onto the earth Abai Geser Bogdo to save all the living on the Earth. Having descended from the skies Geser gets born by an eighty-year-old woman and seventy-year-old man.
IV. The first victories of the baby Geser. The three sharablin fellows send to the small boy a mosquito – a werewolf as big as a horse’s head to suck out the blood and thus kill the bogaryt who has not yet grown stronger. Geser with the stroke of the whip strikes the mosquito in two. In the same way, quite easily he deals with the other attacking him werewolves such as the huge wasps sizing small bulls. They kill and eat the bull-calves and each time they show their father the stuffed animals instead.
V. The matchmaking and marriage of Geser to Urmai Gokhon. Geser together with his sworn brothers, Taizha-khan’s sons, goes to ask in marriage Urmai Gookhon, the beauty daughter of Shazha-khan. Having got to Urmai Gokhon’s chamber he steals the knife and turning to a snotnose - sloven gets lost in the crowd. According to the terms of Urmai Gokhon’s father the possessor of the knife is to become her husband. The fiancée does not want to get married to an untidy young man but her father is afraid that a forty-day heavy shower might get his belongings drowned. After the marriage party the bogatyr comes home together with his wife.
VI. Geser’s battle with the monsters-sholmoses. Geser sets out to get to the Sebte Sumer mountain and he appeals to his protectors – the celestial burkhans. Having obtained the arms and the weapon he assumes his bogatyr’s look.
Geser fights with the 99 sholmoses (devils), win and gets them drowned in the sea. Then he sets free his uncles and bators who were in the cleft mouth of the monster – a huge yellow dog, then punishes Khara Zutan uncle for his cowardice.
VII. Geser’s marriage to Alma-Mergen. Geser meets Alma Mergen, Ukha Lobson-khan’s daughter and marries her. The khan having given her a poisonous drink keeps him at his place as herdsman for three years.
VIII. Turning of Geser to a donkey and his salvation by his sisters. Geser sets out for a battle against Toskholdoi-mangadkhai. In a battle with him Geser loses his strength. The mangadkhai turns Geser to a donkey. The three sisters look for Geser, get him free and restore his true bogatur look.
IX. Urmai Gokhon’s unfaithfulness and her return. Geser’s uncle Khara Zutan on the on the advice of the eastern forty four tengries and the three Sharablin daring fellows’ advice sets his wife Urmai Gokhon against Geser. Geser gets ill desecrated with the blood from a cow’s stomach tied up to her clothes. Urmai Gokhon leaves for Toskholdoi mangadkhai and becomes his wife. After the recovery Geser sets out for the battle against Toskholdoi mangadkhai. He turns into the two boys - twins to deceive the mangadkhai. Urmai Gokhon learns where kept are the mangadkhai’s souls. Geser sets out to look for his wife. He has a battle with Toskholdoi and defeats him with the help of his brother. Together with his wife he comes back home.
X. The epilogue. Having won in all the battles Geser stays to live in Mongolia. The northern lands are allotted to Olkhon’s Master, whereas the eastern lands are allotted to the sharablin three khans.
